In the hamlet of Moudon, at the end of a quiet lane three minutes' drive from the centre of Les Gets, this three-hundred-year-old Alpine farmhouse has been reimagined as an exceptional chalet. Four floors, five bedrooms, original architecture preserved — ancient timbers, generous volumes — elevated by refined contemporary design.

Up to twelve guests can stay here, in an atmosphere both hushed and warm. The project, awarded for its design, was featured in a special episode of Grand Designs Abroad — Kevin McCloud likening the result to "a James Bond set".

Layout

The 350 sqm chalet unfolds across four floors. The vast open-plan living area — drawing room, dining room, kitchen — extends onto a long balcony with views across the valley and the trees surrounding the property. The drawing room gathers around an open log fireplace; the dining room hosts candlelit meals; the open kitchen serves the whole space.

A second living space, designed as an entertainment area, houses a bar, plush leather sofas, a TV corner and a billiards table, with access to a ground-floor terrace.

The bedrooms nestle beneath the ancient timbers; windows tucked under the eaves frame views of the peaks. The master suite, with its super-king bed, is paired with an en-suite bathroom featuring soft lighting and a free-standing bathtub. Three further double bedrooms, all with en-suite shower or bathroom, can be configured with king-size or twin beds; one bathroom is finished in granite. On the top floor, a spacious family suite brings together a double bed, twin beds and an office area, with a shared bathroom.

Location

In the hamlet of Moudon, at the end of a quiet lane, three minutes' drive from the centre of Les Gets and its restaurants, bars and shops. The Perrières Express lift, four minutes away, gives access to the Morzine/Les Gets ski area. The Chavannes and Mont Chéry gondolas, about five minutes away by car, serve both beginner zones and more advanced terrain. For cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, the Mont Caly trails are close by. Morzine, about fifteen minutes away, adds the Parc des Dérêches sports complex to the offer.
