Welcome to Puglia...Puglia spreads out on 800 kms of coast lined by the Ionian and the Adriatic Sea. The landscapes are made of wheat fields, vineyards, olive trees, green hills going into the sea, rocks with caves, and cliffs. The region is characterized by fascinating atmospheres and must be visited entirely: by beginning with the mysterious caves of Gargano, then crossing the sunny fields of Tavoliere and the steppes of the occidental Murge, travelling through scented
olive groves and vineyards, and arriving in the Salento surrounded by the Adriatic and the Ionian Sea. There are many signs of different cultures and civilizations. Bari, the administrative centre of the region, has marks of the Greek world and the Middle East, Lecce has a typical baroque architecture, Tarente is an ancient Greek colony and its archaeological museum has many vestiges of a very ancient past. The village of Arberobello, named as the "city of Trulli" has to be visited, with its numerous little stone houses with conical roofs so specific to Puglia.
