Welcome to the Saronic Islands...
Between Attica and the Peloponese, the Saronic Islands are the 5 islands (Aegina, Salamis, Poros, Hydra et Spetses), which are the closest from Athens, and are favourite destinations for Athenians for weekends. The environment is preserved as for some of these islands, the traffic is forbidden (Hydra or Spetses). A walk on the back of a donkey will give you a total change of scenery and you will enjoy small streets that go down to the port and one can sit at a terrace to enjoy local dishes. Spetses, has neoclassic houses with wooden balconies that make the charm of the island which is located just next to Porto Heli in the Peloponnese and is very reachable (also from Piraeu). It enjoys beautiful beaches and nice creeks that you can access by boat.
