Welcome to Attic...
The Attic is the peninsula surrounding Athens, scattered with villages and countryside that look like separate peninsulas. The Greek legend says that Poseidon, God of the Sea, and Pallas Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, fought for control of the Attic. The king of Gods, Zeus, decided that the Attic would belong to the one that would offer the most useful gift to man. Poseidon struck the sea with his trident and gave an ardent horse. Pallas Athena struck the ground with her spear and offered an olive tree, sign of peace. Zeus decided that Pallas present was the most useful. Pallas Athena was rewarded with the Attic region and gave her name to the city, today Athens, capital of Greece, where we can admire its Acropolis, its Pantheon, the Erechteion and its six Caryatides. |
